2005 August | Payette Long Valley Kayak Trip (25 images)

This is a kayak trip I took in AUG 2005. It was my first attempt at a bike shuttle trip. That's where you drop your bike off at the end of the river, drive up to the start, put your boat in the water, paddle down to the end, pull your boat out, ride your bike back up to the start, drive down to the end, and pick up your boat.

I paddled down a quiet section of the Payette River just south of Lake Cascase (about an hour and a half north of Boise). The trip down the river was about 9 miles and took me 2 hours. This section of river has a lot of osprey (north of Lake Cascade is one of the largest breeding areas for osprey in North America.

Here's a map of the area - Google Hybrid Road & Satellite Map. The trip was from just north of where highway 55 crosses to river down to where Cabarton Rd (the road west of the river) crosses the river.
